top ten fishing spots
Is my mollie fish sick and dying?

I just got my sisters fish while she is a way for awhile, she has guppies and mollies, they are in a ten gallon tank. One of the mollies rarely leaves the bottom of the tank and at first I thought she was pregnant because she was very fat, and her tummy was white. I researched it and read about the gravid spot which she doesn’t have. So then i was totally lost and pulled her into a 1 gallon quarantine tank. she seemed fine for awhile so i put her in with the others and now i looked at her today, and the top of her is all white (looks a little like ick but not quite) which i’m not sure was there before but could have been. And she looks like she had a tiny black hole in the top of her head i don’t think that was there before either! I know there is a fish disease that is like this, but i need help! i don’t want to spend to much money on my half-sister’s fish while she is away, i have my own fish to take care of, what should i do?

Go to walmart or petsmart (whatever store you prefer) and get freshwater aquarium salt. mollies are brackish water, but tolerant to freshwater. However it is more beneficial to their health with the salt (the guppies won’t mind it either!) At this point I wouldn’t bother spending money in medicines. They can cost more than they’re worth, and the disease that she has (though I don’t know exactly what it is) sounds like it’s in a very far progressed, late stage. Just let nature take it’s course. No quarantine tank. Within the next couple days you should be able to tell if it’s going to live or die (or if it’s dieing, it probably will have done so by now). Is she still eating? My mollies occasionally go and hide under things when they’re about due to have their babies, and might possibly miss a meal or two, but don’t have the symptoms your molly has. Like I said, let nature take it’s course. Hope all goes well with your sister’s tank.
