about guide numbers and flash photography.?
i know that GN ties to aperture and flash distance and all.. but.. what about shutter speed? im stuck at 1/30th second for flash uses. (hotshoe wont trigger on other shutter speed). would shutter speed make a difference on how you use GNs ?
Shutter speed does not affect exposure of the subject in flash photography, exposure is only controlled by the aperture (f stop) (and by the power of the flash, but I meant in terms of camera controls).
Shutter speed is only relevant when you’re talking about sync speed. Why are you limited to 1/30 sec? Most film SLR’s sync at about 1/60 most DSLR’s at around 1/200 or 1/250?
Shutter speed only controls the amount of ambient light present – shorter shutter speed will give you less (or no ambient), longer speeds will give you more of the ambient light.
